Danish Woolen Delight is a home-based business, located in Vermont. The company was started by myself, Janice, a nurse-midwife/lactation consultant.  American-born, but living and working in Sweden during the 90’s, I became familiar with LANACare organic wool nursing pads.  Made by a Danish nurse, I was impressed with the many benefits they provided  for breastfeeding mothers, including myself, and began recommending them to the moms I worked with.  When my family and I relocated to Vermont, I decided to import the products, so American women could also experience the benefits the pads offered.  At this point, LANACare had expanded from producing only wool nursing pads to include a line of soothingly soft baby clothes.

As we grew, customers began asking for high quality wool long-underwear for the entire family.  We then added HOCOSA organic merino wool long-underwear from Switzerland.  HOCOSA woolens, as well as LANACare, carry the coveted European GOTS/KbT-certification for organic wool products.   These certifications guarantee that the products are free of chemicals & pesticides, and that high ethical standards in working conditions are met along every step of the way, including the handling of the sheep.

Wanting to find a high-quality organic cotton line, which complemented the other product lines, we discovered Swedish GEGGAMOJA.  The cotton used in the clothing is GOTS-certified. Owned by two sisters, the product line is designed for comfort & practicality, and to handle the carefree rough & tumbling play of their own young kids.  Their aim is to produce products as responsibly and sustainably as possible.

Sadly, LANACare is no longer producing their lovely baby clothing and wellness products.  After working with each other for over 30 yrs, the owner of LANACare decided to retire.  They still make their organic wool nursing pads for breastfeeding mothers.

To fill this void, we've sought out other lines of high-quality woolens, particularly Disana GOTS-Certified woolens from Germany.  ENGEL, another well-loved German company offers many items similar to HOCOSA, but we have a small collection of products that complement HOCOSA.  ManyMonths is a Finnish brand, Oeko-Tex which makes heavy-duty woolens for all ages.  

Danish Woolen Delight is proud to promote products which contribute to the health & well-being of those who use them, of those who produce them, and, ultimately, to the well-being of our Mother Earth!

The company is still currently run by myself and my husband.
